I will not be using this site anymore. I have set up a Facebook page and I think that will be easier for everyone! You do not need to be friends with me to see it in fact I want to keep my Facebook page to just close friends but please like the page if you want to continue seeing things from me. I put up some pictures on it. Some of them are new and some are old that you have already seen but that’s all I have done on it so far. I was a little sick yesterday and especially today. But hopefully I’m done with that now. I am leaving for Puglia on Tuesday for a four day AFS camp. I am very excited to see some of my American friends and have a little change of scenery and get a break from school! I will be taking lots of pictures and stuff so I will put those on my Facebook page as well. The page is La Dolce Vita again so it should be easy to find. I hope this works out for everyone! Ciao!
Ummmm… I went on to update and I can’t see anything I have done in the last month. If you can see it let me know. My mom said she can’t see anything either. I guess I will just start over and keep posting things but you can’t see anything from before and I can’t guarantee it won’t dump everything again. Now I’m a little discouraged so I will post an update tonight as long as I go on later and this message isn’t gone! I wanted to keep this as an organized lace that I could go on to remember my experience for my whole life so this is very dissapointing!!!!
I have only 5 days before I fly out of Wisconsin! I can’t believe it is so close! I will start to post things more often now that my journey is actually starting. I can’t wait to fill up this blog with pictures of historic ruins and deep dishes of gelato!
I have begun learning Italian and I think that it would be a fun thing to do for everyone back home to learn a weekly Italian word or phrase. My host sister has been helping me and I have been given Rosetta Stone for Italian by the program that I am studying abroad through (AFS). So far it has been going well. I have three years of Spanish under my belt sand Italian is not much different. So, here is your first phrase “lei e molto gentile” lehee eh mohl-to jehn-tee-lay (You are very kind)
I have known the location and names of my host family for about 3 months now. They live In Fasano, Italy. The house is a ten minute walk from the Adriatic sea!!! My host parents are Donata and Angelo. There is one girl living at the house who will be my “sorella” (sister in italian). Her name is Sara and is 17. She has two sisters who do not live at the house. They are Mariarosaria and Maddalena. I have been chatting on facebook and skyping with Sara almost everyday and we are starting to feel like sisters already!
My home in 2 months!!
As most of you know, I am embarking on what will probably be the greatest journey of my life! I am spending the next year abroad in Italy! First, a little about myself. My name is Phoebe. I am going into my junior year of highschool. I have wanted to be a foreign exchange student for 2 years now. I am going through the AFS program which has been a very helpful and reliable program. I am not leaving for another month and a half, so I won’t be blogging alot in between now and then. But, once I leave I will be posting lots of pictures and stories and you might even learn a little italian! I am very excited and can’t wait to get started! Thank you to everyone who has supported me through the lengthy application process or who helped me to get the funds together for this amazing opportunity!
